Sometimes getting end game gear means just searching for valuable bases and trading those off, (3os Greater Claws 3/3/1, 4os 15% ed Eth Kraken) Hell, even white items in Diablo 2 are very valuable to the right person.

Although, if your not looking at every item, even blue items such as small charms and Monarch, you might miss some of the rarest and most valuable items in the game, (3/20/20, Shimmering Small Charm, Jeweler’s Monarch of Deflecting). Although, sometimes you want to limit that pool down so you can find specific items easier, so you go to specific places and farm them searching for that specific item. This will give you a bigger pool of items but also increases you chances of finding more valuable items. Not all items will drop in all areas, so you need to go to areas which will allow for all items to drop. Clearly, you were playing Diablo 2 wrong and had no understanding of items in Diablo 2. Many people seem to think that there are only a few items worth getting in Diablo 2 and that it’s similar to Diablo 4 and that they are the same. Most people wouldn’t have any problem playing Dungeons over and over or fighting the same bosses over and over if the reward for doing it was worth it. Finding new ways to replay those same areas or searching for something valuable. The way the player interacts with the game is what makes the game fun. Diablo 2 you could go through the entire game and clear every single map until there are no more monsters left. Repetitiveness… or more accurately: Replayability… Is what will make a game good. If the rules create fun interactions then you can replay the game over and over and it’s fun usually when there are more interactions to discover within that ruleset.

It’s a limited ruleset and the fun comes from interacting with that limited ruleset. Most games are repetitive by the nature of how games work. It’s not whether or not the game is repetitive that makes a game good or bad. So many people on this forum who think Diablo 2 is a bad game (for whatever reason) just prove to not know how to play Diablo 2 or understand what actually makes Diablo 2 the superior game.
